Pamela Anderson Joins ‘Dancing With the Stars’ in France

Pamela Anderson is dusting off her dancing shoes!

The Baywatch star is set to join the cast of Dancing With the Stars for a third time — this time, on the French adaptation, Danse Avec les Stars. French TV network TF1 shared the announcement on their website and Twitter account, and Anderson confirmed the news in an Instagram post on her page.

“I have never danced but have been offered roles on Broadway. I seem to be fated to take on this challenge,” Anderson is quoted in her Instagram caption. “My kids have always come first. And there was just no time for film or theatre. Now that they are grown. I’m ready to take on more artistic roles.”

Anderson previously appeared on Dancing With the Stars’ American iteration (which, along with the French show, is based on the British dance competition series, Strictly Come Dancing) in season 10, performing alongside DWTS pro Damian Whitewood. After being eliminated sixth during that season, she returned for Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars in season 15, but was the first competitor to be eliminated.

“Dancing is such a great way to express yourself, and get in shape,” Anderson said in her announcement on Tuesday. “I am emotional just when I think of dancing – I have so much inside to give – it will save me.”

And the French connection in the model and actress’ latest DWTS venture should come as no surprise. Anderson is currently living in Marseilles with her boyfriend, French soccer star Adil Rami, with whom she is “madly in love,” according to her Instagram caption. In fact, a source close to Anderson and Rami recently told ET that “they are not currently engaged, but things are definitely headed in that direction for the couple.”

Rumors swirled after Anderson, 51, was spotted wearing a diamond ring — on her right hand — while supporting 32-year-old Rami during the World Cup tournament. Rami and his countrymen ended up winning the World Cup for France and Anderson said her beau has been on a “whirlwind celebration tour” following the triumphant final win over Croatia.

“It is a diamond Cartier Panther ring and it has a very special meaning between them,” the source said of the ring at the time.

The source also told ET that “their love is one that is very private, precious and personal. Pamela has never been so private about a relationship before, it’s different than all the others. She’s learned that being public from the get-go doesn’t always work out in the long run.”

Pamela Anderson ‘very happy’ with new boyfriend

Pamela Anderson is loving life!

The 50-year-old spoke with ET’s Nischelle Turner on Wednesday to promote her new book, Lust for Love: Rekindling Intimacy and Passion in Your Relationship, which she co-wrote with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach and is available online and in bookstores now. The former Baywatch star opened up about her relationship with 32-year-old French soccer star, Adil Rami, and their life in the south of France.

“Well, one good thing is that we try to keep that private because he has his world, I have my world and that’s not something we want to talk about because we really want to protect our privacy,” Anderson said. “But, yes, I’m very happy. I’m very happy and I love France.”

Anderson continued: “My mom is so funny because every time she sees me and … I want to complain about certain things she goes, ‘Oh stop! You’re happy! Look at your face. Deal with it!’ Just, you know, there’s more good than bad. There’s more good than bad!'”

The mom-of-two, who’s been married four times, also shared what she thinks makes both a great love and lover.

“I’ve had some great loves. Well, love and loving is you know, it does go hand in hand. And the best lovers are the most passionate people, the most honest people and, you know, I like to really get to know somebody,” Anderson said. “I’m really into being with someone who’s committed and then maybe that’s why I’ve been married so many times. But it didn’t work out and, people may misunderstand, I haven’t been with a lot of men in my life. I’ve been with a few men, and I’ve married them and I believe in a monogamous relationship — that’s the fun part for me.”

Anderson has also learned a lot about love from her parents.

“They were so in love and they’re still together and they’ve been together since they were 16. And they’ve had a lot of ups and downs. They’re so romantic and they’re constantly funny and silly with each other and so in love,” Anderson shared. “And they have each other now which is so important to look back at some of their struggles and how they got through it and how they’re together now.”

The former Playmate also said that she doesn’t “know what I would do if they were separated. I mean, my mom has been sick and my dad was there for her. And now my dad is sick and my mom’s there for him. And now they’re both healthy, thank god. But we need somebody else, we’re stronger in pairs. We need to have it.”

Anderson said that she’s learned to give men a “long leash” and revealed that her father gave her some tips on relationships, too.

“He always said that the person you’re with is like a mirror. So, if you’re doing something, be OK with them doing it,” Anderson said. “Because they’re doing exactly what you’re doing. So, when you make that choice remember they’re doing it too.”

She also urged people to get excited about love, calling it “the fun part of life.”

“Everyone works so hard, we want someone to go home to. Want someone to send you messages and flowers and chase you around. Why not? This is all part of the fun part of life. Life is too hard. It’s really important I think to have somebody love you,” Anderson said. “A lot of the American culture, there’s all these self-help books about ‘love yourself.’ You can’t love anybody else until you love yourself. I thought about it one day and I thought, ‘Wow! This is really generating a narcissistic society.’ I think that we’re really unhappy when we don’t love others, and then we need to hold a place for other people to love us.”

Baywatch star Pamela Anderson opens up

Down in the South of France it feels like summer, even in February. Warm sunshine dapples the ochre walls, the Mediterranean is a-sparkle and love, crazy love, is in the air.

For here in Marseille, Pamela Anderson has found herself in the grip of un grand amour; she and a French footballer called Adil Rami are madly in love, oblivious to the language barrier and the 18-year age gap that might have kept less reckless lovers apart.

Yes, it’s complicated, but Pamela and Adil met last summer and have been inseparable ever since. ‘Oh, I don’t want to talk about him,’ she cries. ‘We want to protect our love. There are a lot of fake and phoney relationships out there, people just trying to get noticed.

‘He does not want this and neither do I. He is not with me because he wants attention and vice versa.’

Yet somehow she cannot stop herself. It’s just too intoxicating. ‘He cares about me deeply,’ she tells me. ‘We have a very healthy, simple wonderful life without all the bells and whistles. We both have our children to try to squeeze into the equation, but he is amazing. He is a good guy, really a good guy.’

The couple have lived together for the past six months in Marseille, where he plays for the local team. Life is good, despite the fact the sea views remind her daily of the plight of the refugees trying to reach Europe from Africa. ‘Every time I put even one foot in the Mediterranean, I think of them,’ she says.

She attends Adil’s home games, sitting high up in the grandstand where the bright plumage of her plunge cocktail dresses and tousled blonde hair make her look like an exotic bird nesting in an eyrie of navy padded jackets.

After eight months together, the couple have their routines. He trains relentlessly in the outdoor gym installed at their new home, while she likes to shop in the markets for Provencal vegetables to cook vast suppers for her hunky beau.

She never lets her glamour standards slip, though, even in the kitchen, and hasn’t worn flat shoes or jeans since leaving the U.S.

‘I don’t do sweatpants,’ she says, preferring a Pammy-tastic domestic uniform of ‘little vintage slips, sexy things.’ Sometimes Adil looks at her like he can’t believe it. ‘He calls me an alien,’ she says.

An alien?
