Pamela Anderson will ‘never, never watch’ Pam & Tommy

Pamela Anderson has no interest in watching Pam & Tommy.

The Hulu limited series (now streaming) tells the true story behind the release of her and then-husband Tommy Lee’s stolen sex tape, and a source close to Anderson tells EW that she won’t be tuning in now or ever. “I do know she’ll never, never watch this,” the source says. “Not even years from now. Not even the trailer.”

Both the showrunners and series star Lily James (who plays Anderson) have previously stated they reached out to Anderson during the series’ development but never received a response. The source confirms Anderson was indeed contacted multiple times, first “years ago” long before filming, and again “while they were in post-production.” But she still wasn’t interested—unlike Lee, who EW previously confirmed spoke to Stan about the project. “Tommy doesn’t get it,” says the source. “He’s in the same mindset he was at the time: that any publicity is good publicity.”

While Pam & Tommy is all about Anderson, producers were able to develop the series without her participation (or permission) by optioning the rights to an article published by Rolling Stone in 2014 that revealed the unbelievable true story of how a disgruntled contractor working on their house stole a large safe from their garage containing the private sex tape and then released it on the internet without their consent.

“As a friend of Pamela, at least no one will ever ask me again if the tape was really stolen,” the source says. “But imagine if a celebrity today had their nudes leaked and then Hollywood recreated not just the crime but the actual nudes — that would never happen. In the ’90s, Pamela’s body was deemed by a judge to be public property. There was no question the tape was stolen property, but the court decided it wasn’t private property because her body belonged to the world.”

The source adds that after the #MeToo movement, “Pamela is somehow still the exception to the rule. She’s still up for grabs. That’s messed up. Yes, it’s brief clips — but to me the most damning aspect is that [Pam & Tommy] didn’t just tell the story, they recreated moments from the boat.”

When it comes to James’ portrayal of Anderson, the source says that Anderson “never commented on Lily’s look and would never do so. This poor starlet has had to hear that Pamela thinks she’s trash — it just never happened. The headlines around that are just totally screwed up.”

The source believes Sebastian Stan, who plays Lee in the series, “did an impressive job” and James “did a great visual — and the voice is pretty uncanny,” but the series doesn’t always capture the true Anderson. “Pamela is not that meek,” the source notes of moments like when James’ Pamela is shown hesitant to voice her opinion on the set of Baywatch. “She is not a shrinking violet and never was.”

Anderson is now “focused on her life in Vancouver,” says the source. “She doesn’t read the headlines” and “she’s happy to be focused on her philanthropic efforts and wants any press she ever gets to be about that now.”

Pamela Takes Part in PETA’s ‘Vegans Make Better Lovers’

Pamela Anderson’s longtime love for animals has inspired a towering PETA promotion.

Anderson, 54, and PETA have partnered together on a new Valentine’s Day campaign for the animal welfare organization. The message they chose for the campaign: Vegans make better lovers.

To spread this statement, PETA secured a giant 3,400-square-foot billboard in New York City’s Times Square. As of Monday morning, the space now features a huge black and white photo of Anderson with the campaign’s “Vegans Make Better Lovers” message.

“I believe that having a big heart is the sexiest thing in the world,” Anderson said in a statement about the campaign obtained by PEOPLE.

Along with the billboard, PETA has also created a limited edition 25-inch-wide heart-shaped box of vegan chocolates featuring Anderson’s image on the front as a Valentine’s Day gift for animal lovers. The confection boxes, each containing 110 chocolates, will be available on PETA’s website for purchase, with the proceeds going to the nonprofit’s animal welfare work.

Each candy box is filled with four different flavors of vegan chocolate: cherry, lavender, raspberry, and green tea lemon.

This Valentine’s Day campaign is the most recent partnership between Anderson and PETA. The Baywatch actress has worked with the nonprofit for decades, frequently supporting the organization’s efforts to promote veganism and end the use of fur in fashion.

Pam’s Sons Are All Grown Up—And Taking Over Hollywood

Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee met on New Year’s Eve of 1994, and they tied the knot just four days later.

The new Hulu series Pam & Tommy follows the whirlwind relationship between Baywatch star Pamela and drummer Tommy Lee. Set in the 1990s, the show will also dive into the couple’s infamous sex tape scandal.

Two years into their marriage, they had a Brandon Thomas Lee. The following year they welcomed their second child Dylan Jagger Lee into their lives, and now the two boys are all grown up. (Brandon is 25, and Dylan is 24.)

These two were never really in the spotlight growing up, considering how Pamela always prioritized their privacy. But now that they’re working on their own projects, the boys are definitely making a name for themselves.

Here’s everything to know about Brandon Thomas And Dylan Jagger Lee.

Back in 2019, Brandon starred in the revival of The Hills and later returned for Season 2 of The Hills: New Beginnings.

He previously told Interview that he wanted to share a side of himself separate from his parents. “I want to show people what I’m truly like,” he said. “There are a lot of misconceptions about the way we were raised—that we’re spoiled, or that we were given everything. But our friends can back this up: Dylan and I haven’t taken a dollar from our parents since we were in high school.”

Dylan decided to follow in his father’s footsteps…but not in the way you might think. Rather than rock music, he’s actually big into EDM. He was one half of Midnight Kids, which now only consists of his former group member, Kyle Girard. Following his unexpected exit, he set off to create a new sound and is now part of a duo called Motel 7.

While chatting with Interview, Brandon revealed even though he did grow up in the spotlight, his parents did their best to give them a normal childhood.

“I remember one day asking my mom, ‘Hey, why does everybody take photos of us?’ And she said, ‘Oh, they do that to everybody.'”

Despite their parents being divorced, the family occasionally reunites to spend time together. Both of Pamela’s sons have accompanied her to red carpet events.

One of their most recent get-togethers was in November of 2021, where Pamela and Tommy reunited to celebrate Brandon’s fashion collaboration with Local Authority at The Webster Los Angeles.

Pamela recently made headlines after news came out that she was splitting from her husband of one year Dan Hayhurst. Less than two weeks later, she was spotted spending quality time with Brandon, who joined her for dinner at Nobu in Malibu. This is the mother and son’s most recent appearance together and Pamela’s first time stepping out since the divorce went public.

Pam & Tommy premieres on Hulu on February 2nd.
