Pamela Anderson ‘in final negotiations’ for I’m A Celebrity Australia

Pamela Anderson is reportedly in ‘final negotiations’ to appear on the new series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia.

On Wednesday, Who magazine claimed that Channel 10 bosses had gone to ‘great lengths’ to secure the A-list star.

‘Getting Pamela on the show is like winning the lottery for the network,’ a source told the publication.

The insider added: ‘They expect her appearance will not only attract more viewers but generate world-wide headlines as she’ll no doubt have some stories to tell.’

According to Who, Pamela, 51, is ‘supposed to’ arrive in the jungle on Sunday, during the first episode of the new series.

However, the publication claim bosses fear she may ‘leave them high and dry’ as her appearance is not yet confirmed.

‘The network are trying their best to meet her demands because they don’t have any other international star lined up yet,’ the insider concluded.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel 10 and Pamela’s rep for comment.

Pamela’s potential appearance follows a string of reports that the show has ‘struggled’ to sign up big names, after a ratings decline in recent years.

Gogglebox’s Angie Jones, 28, and Yvie Kent, 46, are the only confirmed campmates so far, ahead of Sunday’s launch.

The show’s series four finale attracted just 684,000 viewers in 2018 – a noticeable decline from the 989,00 that tuned in for the final episode in 2017.

In 2015, the first series of the show debuted to an impressive 1,199,000 viewers, but has struggled to reach such heights again.

Following the ratings drop last year, Channel 10 recently announced this year’s offering will be the first series cut down from six weeks to four.

Pamela’s appearance would certainly raise eyebrows in Australia, after recently finding herself in a spat with Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

During an interview on Nine’s 60 Minutes in November, Pamela had called on the PM to support the safe return of WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, to Australia.

Julian has been holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London for six years.

Scott went on to mock Pamela’s request on Gold Coast radio station Hot Tomato FM, laughing at her while on-air.

Pamela went on to accuse Scott of making ‘smutty’ and ‘unnecessary’ comments about her.
